12) VSM-PM104 Church Administration and Finance - 3 Credits

Purpose of the Course
The purpose of this course is to provide administrative and management skills for Christian leaders in an urban and rural context.

Course Objectives

The course will enable the students to:
1. Learn the importance of Stewardship and Servanthood in church organization and management.
2. Explain the difference between the Biblical and non-Christian foundations for Church leadership.
3. Identify biblical management principles and be ready to defend them amidst other principles.
4. Develop organizational management skills for the local church.
5. Apply biblical administrative skills by developing church servant leaders.

Course Content
The church is unlike any other human institution and therefore requires a different type of administration. The church is not a part of the world system but of the kingdom of God. At the same time, the student must learn the dynamics of team ministry and communication. Leadership dynamics will include - leadership styles, essential qualities of leadership, the art of delegation; conflict management; the risks of leadership; church management: church projects, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, goal setting, action plans, group planning techniques, planning tools; personnel management: concepts of personnel management, job analysis; financial management: book-keeping, report / proposal writing, budgeting, fundraising, stewardship.
