3) VSM B203 New Tribal History: New Testament Survey - 3 Credits

Purpose of the Course
To expose the student to the broad themes of the New Testament as well as its historical/cultural milieu and geography.

Learning Outcomes
1. To familiarize the student to the historical context and background of the New Testament
2. To expose the student to the broad theological themes of the New Testament with particular emphasis on the Kingdom of God
3. Introduce and summarize the books of the New Testament and their connection
4. Survey the life and ministry of Jesus
5. Survey the life and ministry of Paul and other New Testament authors

Course Content
Examining Jewish Second Temple history as the context for the New Testament; comparing first century Judaism and early Christianity; tracing the ministry of Jesus as the fulfilment of Judaism; introduce each New Testament book and their role in the broad themes of the New Testament; Surveying the life and ministry of Jesus and Paul as extensions of the kingdom of God; studying the cultural background of the New Testament; explore the expansion of the early church.
